Decades worth of research studies from around the world are synthesized at the AF Research & Outreach Centre to design key inputs like curricula, teaching practices, and other essential school-level supports necessary for optimizing student engagement, student learning, and financial viability. These inputs are then implemented at AF Exemplar Schools, which are designed to be learning sites for the constantly-evolving AF Gold Standard Framework.

The schools in turn present the AF Research and Outreach Centre with feedback on what works and what it takes to make it work. The learning that is being generated during this process informs curriculum and pedagogy at the AF Centre for Teaching and Educational Leadership whose goal is to design a one-of-its kind professional development system for empowering school teachers and leaders in the use of evidence-based interventions.

Together, these three institutions generate a powerful synergy between theory, practice and research, by feeding each other with problems of practice as well as insights and scalable solutions which are eventually manifested in the AF Gold Standard Framework – a set of research-based indicators of effective schooling that measures the quality of inputs, processes, and outcomes.
